Inspired Blueprints Sketch #44

Over at Inspired Blueprints, we keep receiving requests for double page sketches...so here 'tis.  This gem is based on a layout by Lynn, and features 6 photos that can easily be sourced from your standard 6x4 stash.
Take my layout for example...I dipped into my photo pile from 2004 and created a double page spread about Seth's first Easter - using photos I already had printed! Normally, I avoid creating layouts from special occasions...there seems to be too much pressure. lol. However, I found that super cute American Crafts easter egg paper in my stash and thought it would be perfect!
Look at that little face!  Seth celebrated his first Easter by tasting a chocolate egg at 7am (yes, we are good parents! lol).  After he'd had a little bit, we took it away from him and absolutely broke his heart!  What ensued was a tantrum of epic proportions until we gave him another piece.  I still remember him sucking back the tears and chocolate at the same time.  Let's face it...Easter eggs are GOOD!
Speaking of Easter...its just around the corner!  Seth has to give a talk this week about "how he and his family are preparing for Easter".  Any suggestions??

Anyhoo...upload your takes on the sketch to the Inspired Blueprints gallery by midnight 31 March 2010 to be in the running to win a fab prize!

Cheers, Lis.

Pebbles Inc reveal...

This week on the Pebbles Inc blog, we've been celebrating the arrival of Spring for our northern hemisphere scrappy sisters.  The challenge for the DT was to create Spring inspired layouts...so here 'tis...
I have used Pebbles Inc's Skipping Along collection - the colours are so bright and fun, they just scream Spring!  I absolutely love Pebbles Inc candy dots...they make the perfect addition to nearly every layout!  Here I've used them to add a dimensional centre to the sticker flower.
Want to play along?  Join in this week's challenge at the Pebbles Inc blog and you could win a fabbo prize!  All you need to do to enter is create a Spring inspired layout of your own using 50% Pebbles product, then link to this post.  Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Cheers, Lis.

Today...

Outside my window...the sun is shining and there's a breeze blowing through the ferns

The time is...1.45pm - lunchtime

Today I feel...very distracted; so many ideas flowing through my head

I am listening to...Sandra chatting to me on the phone

I am wearing...the usual denim skirt (lol), black shirt and my bargain of a butterfly necklace reduced from $30 to $2!!

I am thinking...of all the possibilities

At the moment, I am thankful...to the help of my accountant!  David, you're a gem.

I am going to...follow my dreams, watch this space!

I wish...the cleaning fairies would come and sort out my house

I am struggling with...filling in online applications (urgh)

I am hearing...a lot of blah, blah, blah - just get to the point

I am drinking...diet coke and water - alternate sips

I bet you did not know...I broke my wrist dancing with the best man at a wedding back in 1995...12 months later, I started dating that best man and we've now been together for 14 years!

One of my favourite...guilty pleasures is reading gossip magazines

I am hoping for...good things for the future

I vow...to remain true to myself and not be swayed by others

...and just because I can't have a post without a photo...this one was taken at CraftFest on the weekend where I got to meet the lovely Sherry Mendoza...scrapbooking fb buddy and now we've met irl! Love that.
Cheers, Lis.

Inspired Blueprints Sketch #43

Big things are happening at Inspired Blueprints this month.  Sketch #43 has been revealed and its great for all you multi photo enthusiasts!
Here's my take...I've used a Heidi Swapp mask to create the bracket shape and loads of Crate Paper "Brook" stickers (love them!).  I'm so glad Jodie took photos of my tattoo in progress...even though its only a bitty one. lol.  Maybe one day I'll get something more substantial...loving this one, but not sure I'm that brave! (and my hubby and mum would throttle me! lol)

Inspired Blueprints is moving to blogger!
From today, Inspired Blueprints will be bringing you all of our wonderful sketches, layouts and cards from this blog.  The transition from Typepad to Blogger has not been easy, let me tell you.  The columns of the blog are still under construction, however I've been able to import all of our posts, right back to our launch in October 2008.  You can expect to see lots of great new things there in the very near future!  In the meantime, leave a comment on this post showing this pic to go into the running to win this pack of goodies.
Hope to see you at the new blog soon!  Don't forget to upload your layouts inspired by Sketch 43 into the IB gallery by midnight, 31 March 2010, to be in the running to win a prize from this month's sponsor.

Cheers, Lis.

Scrapware shares...

This week I've been hosting the Scrapware blog and sharing some of my favourite products.

One of my new favourites are the vines...I love that there are four different ones in a packet that you could use individually or layer, like I've done on this layout.  I've also used a scallop circle frame to create an accent in the top right corner of my layout.  I have left the chipboard raw to compliment the patterned papers I chose (Crate Paper - Brook).   That gorgeous flower was made by Sandra...and she's now selling them at Scrapbooking Delights.  Every single one of them is individual and beautiful!
Products used:
CH298 Vine Branches 12"
CH295 Scalloped Circles Large
I also love Scrapware's journal bits.  They are the perfect compliment to every layout.  I've used the arrow journal bit on this layout, and coated the frame in black kindy glitz to match my lettering and left the journaling area raw.
Products used:
JB34 Arrow Journal Bits
Speaking of Scrapbooking Delights...I'm teaching a class this Wednesday 10 March 2010...
Learn how to make gorgeous crepe paper blooms, create two layouts and a card...all in two hours and only $30.  The projects will be made using Jenni Bowlin crepe paper, Luxe Designs patterned paper and Scenic Route stickers...the layouts are "friendship" themed and would suit any size photo.  Contact Sandra on (02) 4260 8885 to book your seat.

Cheers, Lis.

Pebbles Inc reveal...

This week, the Pebbles Inc team are showcasing their favourite Pebbles product...I'm thinking that's akin to asking which child you love more! lol.  One of my favourites are the Pebbles Inc Candy Dots.  They come in so many delicious colours that coordinate perfectly with their patterned papers, and have a nice matt finish, so they look great on masculine layouts too.

For my layout, I've used the Lil' Buddy collection, as well as Pebbles chalks, ribbon and Candy Dots.  The chalks were added using a stencil - there's no way I could have lined them up freehand! lol.

These pics were taken late last year at swimming lessons.  Seth loves being in the pool, but I think he's more interested in playing than becoming a future olympian! hehe. That's okay by us, as long as he learns how to get himself out of trouble if he falls in the water.
To line up the Candy dots, I traced a large circle, then placed the dots straight over the top, leaving a bit of space to incorporate my title.
Check out the Pebbles Inc blog to see what the rest of the team have been up to!

Scrapware share...

This week I'm hosting the Scrapware blog, and we're showcasing the fabulous and versatile Word Trios!

For my layout, I have used "beautiful perfect princess" word trio.  I have painted the chipboard words with white paint and spritzed it with red glimmermist.   If you're like me and too impatient to wait for it to dry, just hit it with the heat gun and you'll be able to adhere it to your project straight away.
The chipboard bird has been coloured using Pebbles Inc metallic cream chalks...incredibly easy to apply and they colour the chipboard beautifully.  The chalks give the chipboard a lovely shimmer too.

Scrapware products used:
  • WT27 Beautiful Perfect Princess
  • CH193 Bird on a Branch MINI
  • CH295 Scalloped Circles Large
This month, Scrapware is running a challenge using Word Trios!  You've got to be in it to win it.  Click here for more details.
Check out the Scrapware blog to see how the DT have used Word Trios on their layouts.
