Color Combos Galore #131

How fresh and lovely is this colour combo?!! CCG #131 has just been revealed...
tropical teal - sweet vanilla - lipstick red - glorious gold

Here's my take...I went a bit softer on the colours for this one.
The pics are of Sethy-boy...every afternoon he tries to beat Andrew to the letterbox to see what's inside, and this particular day there was a letter with his name on it!! HAPPY DAYS! lol. Shame it was a bank statement...hehe. He was thrilled nonetheless. One day he will learn the lesson that envelopes with window faces rarely bring good news.
Check out how the rest of the Color Combos Galore team have interpreted #131 here.

Have a great weekend everyone. Lis.

Scrapbooking Memories Vol 11 No 7

I just picked a copy of this month's Scrapbooking Memories magazine and I was surprised to see I had a few projects in there! I knew the Finishing Touch Ideas showcase was due to be printed, but not the other two layouts...lol. So exciting...the first time I've been published in Scrapbooking Memories! Here they are...
For this layout, I had to use product supplied by Finishing Touch Ideas...brads, chipboard letters and shapes, ribbons, tokens, rubons, flowers...so much fun stuff to play with! I love adding lots of little bits and bobs to my layouts. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of my card, but you can see it in the mag. lol.Next up...the Father's Gallery...This layout is based on Color Combos Galore #109. I've always adored these photos of Andrew and Eme that Janine took during our family photo shoot last December...love the emotion and how excited Eme is to run into her Dad's arms.Finally...the Encore Gallery...
A layout about Andrew and I, using some fabbo bright primary colours. The pic was taken at my cousin's wedding last September. So there you have it! tfl, Lis.

Scrapbooking Delights - Class layouts

For the retreat, I taught two classes. Both classes were an hour long and everyone completed a layout and walked away with instructions and product to complete an additional layout and a card.

The first class was an "A to Z of ME" class, and the kit was so pretty...filled with Teresa Collins, Heidi Swapp, Adorn Its, ribbons, flowers, jewel brads...very nice. The purpose of the class was to learn how to measure, to use contrasting coloured cardstock instead of the expected and to get ourselves on a layout. Too often we are busy scrapbooking our children and standing behind the camera and forget to add ourselves to our albums. I want my children to know who I am and what I felt, and they will never doubt how much I love them. Here's my layout...
The second layout was about childhood memories...that could be one of your own or one of your child's. I chose to scrap my 8th birthday party. Its so funny that I can remember everything about that day...must have been a special one. I can still remember everyone who attended too. Mum used to make a ring cake with artificial flowers in the centre for all our birthdays. She always thinks I pick on her for that, but the cake does look beautiful. I only realised this weekend that she's actually piped icing around the edge! So happy I revisited this memory. From looking at this layout and the one above, you wouldn't think that these two layouts came from the same kit - so different in colour.
Lastly, here's the card you could create from the kit.
The second class was about combining patterns and colour. I used the Basic Grey "Lemonade" range to show how combining different sized patterns and using cardstock to tie it together can enhance your layout. The class was also about getting more scrap for your buck by using the product across several projects. This layout was inspired by Beatriz Jennings. I love the asymmetrical feel to it.
The second layout was just a pretty family page using the gorgeous BG Lemonade. I cut the transparency and journaling spot to make it extend the length of the page.

There are a couple of each kit left over and le at Scrapbooking Delights for $30 each. The kit contains product and full instructions to recreate the projects above.
they are now for sa
Cheers, Lis.

Inspired Blueprints - Sketch #28

I can't believe how quickly August is flying by! It seems like only yesterday that it was January. The weather is warming up and Spring is definitely in the air. My neighbours blossoms are blooming already, so it won't be long until my front garden is a sea of pink blooms and purple agapanthus...love this time of year.

Know what I also love??? SKETCHES! Really? I hear you saying...lol. The latest sketch for Inspired Blueprints features 5 photos and the layouts by the design team are gorgeous! We also had the pleasure of Wendy Smedley joining us as our guest designer. I've been an admirer of Wendy's layouts and Simple philosophy for years and I was totally thrilled when she said yes! Check out the blog for more inspiration. Here's my take on the sketch. I've used Kaiser's "pennyroyale" range of papers and embellies, and teamed it with some totally beautiful Prima flowers. The colours coordinated perfectly with Eme's new beanie. I wanted to create a warm and girlie layout and I think I managed that.Eme is such a beautiful and fun little girl. She's been watching America's Next Top Model with me and just loves mimicking the models posing. When the camera comes out now, she breaks into all these poses - the hand on the face is one of her favourites...lol.

This past weekend, I have been at the Scrapbooking Delights retreat and I am exhausted! I had a fabulous time...teaching classes, scrapping, setting challenges, helping out everyone. I managed to create 5 or 6 layouts - I can't remember - its all a bit of a blur (lol). I have photos and memories to document and I'll share them in another post.

ttfn, Lis.

Scrapbook Savvy - DT reveal

This month for Scrapbook Savvy, I got to bring a little sunshine to winter with the new "Pina Colada" range by Kaisercraft!

In addition to gorgeously bright, double sided patterned papers, there are also coordinating diecut tags, enamel brads, rubons and cardstock alpha stickers. The flamingo print brings a little bit of whimsy to any layout, and the papers suit a variety of themes - not just a tropical holiday! Although, couldn't we all do with one of those!!

On this layout, I have documented my daughter's love of dress up shoes. The bright pink background paper, with orange ink dotted down the side, was the perfect backdrop.

I loved using the Kaiser alpha stickers on this one, and by tracing around each letter in a black pen, they really pop off the page! I have also added some Prima flowers, which are also in the Savvy store.

Here, I have silhouetted the flamingo and leaves and positioned them so they pop out from behind the photos. The side strip of grey has been punched out using a Fiskars Threading Water punch, with brads placed randomly in the dots.
I really enjoyed creating with this range. The alphas stuck well, the diecut tags have great weight and look fab layered, and those glitter Lullaby thickers in Aqua coordinated perfectly!

All products are now available in the Savvy store.

Actually, Kaisercraft are having a competition with the Pina Colada and Offshore ranges! Just scrap your summer...which is what I did...lol.

Cheers, Lis.

Sorry Mum...lol

Every Friday on the Pebbles Inc blog, one of the DT shares a hint or tip. This week, Gaelle challenged us to use paint...check out the blog to see the DT's layouts! Here's my layout. I've used the Lil' Miss range of papers and stickers.I added red paint to the background using bubble wrap as a stamp. I don't use paint very often, so this was a great challenge. I love that these girls are pushing me to try new (to me) things. I wanted to replicate the look of the red nose my Mum is wearing...lol. The little bird is sitting on a Scrapware branch and is also wearing a red nose - a Pebbles Inc candy dot. How funny is that pic of my mum?!! Love that she was willing to be silly for me...she was trying to encourage Eme to try on the red nose...well, I got the photo of Mum, but not Eme.

Scrapbook Savvy cybercrop...

Photobucket

The Scrapbook Savvy cybercrop for August 2009 has begun! The first of the challenges have been revealed, including my sketch challenge. My challenge is simple...create a layout based on this sketch by PageMaps and upload it to the Savvy gallery by midnight, Thursday 20 August 2009.
Here's my take on the sketch...some fun photos of Sethy-boy wearing/playing with his red nose for this year's Red Nose Day. Its always good to have an excuse to dress up and act silly!
I've used more papers and stickers from OA's Road Trip range - loving that tartan!! Might have to get another sheet...from the Savvy store of course. :-)

layout to share...

I love this pic of my friend Jodie with Eme. Eme just adores her, and sometimes we're sure she wishes she was living with Jode instead of us! lol. Love the fun colours too - its mostly Bella Blvde and My Little Shoebox papers and stickers.I created the layout for the Scrapbook Savvy cybercrop back in June and its based on a PageMaps circle sketch . Don't forget...there's another cybercrop on this weekend! Check out the details here.

Inspired Blueprints - sketch 27

I know! Three blogs posts in one day!! So much going on...its crazy!

Sketch 27 has been revealed at Inspired Blueprints and here it is. Its based on this layout by Kim Arnold. Check out what the rest of the DT have been creating - click here!
Here's my take...a very neutral layout for me, don't you think. I've used the Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts papers and stickers (a gift from Sandra - thank you!). Its not often I have a photo taken without make up!To be in the running to win a prize from one of our sponsors, upload your take to the Inspired Blueprints gallery by 31 August 2009. There's some gorgeous layouts in the gallery already! Such diversity by our members...but not to worry, the prize draw is completely random, so everyone is in with a chance.

Cheers, Lis.

Savvy sketch challenge

The sketch challenge for August at Scrapbook Savvy features this sketch courtesy of PageMaps.
Here's my take...I've used October Afternoon's "Road Trip" papers and stickers...available in the Savvy store now. I love that plaid!! It must be the Scot in me...always love a good tartan.
These pics are of Sethy-boy lying in our front yard. He professes to be a little light sensitive and everytime I try to take a pic of him in daylight, he does this weird squinty eye thing, and the hands go up to the forehead. Its highly frustrating, but worth recording as one of his traits. He saw my layout this morning and he told me he thought it was funny. Yeah, funny now, not when I was trying to take a decent photo! lol.

Anyhoo...if you want to enter the sketch challenge, upload your take on the sketch to the Savvy gallery by 31 August 2009. There's a $25 store voucher for the winner! Got to be in it to win it.

Don't forget...

Hope to see you there! Lis.

Color Combos Galore #130

I'm finally getting back on track after having the flu from hell for 4 weeks! Why is it, when you're sick, your mojo goes out the window?? Anyway, I'm all up to date and my mojo is flowing again! Color Combos Galore #130 has been revealed, and here it is:
slate grey - barest lilac - cobblestone - lavender blue

Here's my take...I've used a deeper shade of lilac, but I love how this one came together. When I first saw this combo, I was little frightened - two shades of purple!! eeeek! lol. The CCG DT have done an awesome job...check out their creations here.
The pics of are Eme and her friend Blake. They are just inseparable and they play so well together. The other day they were walking along holding hands, until Blake's brother teased "Blake's got a girlfriend!". Well he let go straight away! lol. We're at that age already and they're not even 4 yet.

tfl, Lis.

btw - Sandra, I finally used the infamous Spotlight butterfly! rotflmao...my arm is still sore from that fall back in March.

Local Market finds...

I love Fridays in Wollongong! The Wollongong Produce and Creative Traders Markets is the place to be!! The mall is absolutely heaving with people this morning and the smell of the fresh product is just divine! As usual, I picked up a piece of baklava from the olive growers, as well as a piece of caramel slice (which in my humble opinion is the tastiest ever).

I also came across a new vendor, Birdhouse! Each piece is screenprinted and finished by hand and I just love the nature inspired designs. I love the little pieces of fabric and vintage buttons that have been added. This little singlet is just adorable and I can't wait to pick up some pieces when there's some new babies to buy for...lol. I picked myself up a vintage button ring...love it! Check out their etsy store.

Another find was by Bows 4 Bella. I picked up this adorable headband for Eme for her birthday (not 'til September, but I like to be prepared). She is going to look so gorgeous wearing it...I'll have to find a little party dress to match now.
Every week there's something new to come across...it always pays to visit and support the local markets!
tfl, Lis.

CCG #129

Color Combos Galore #129 was released a couple of weeks ago, and I just love it! For US readers this would appear to be a very patriotic colour scheme, but to me, it just spoke of winter...that moody grey, blue and cream, with a little red to punch it up.
liberty red - patriotic cream - atlantic blue - all american gray

I've used the combo for a winter themed layout about Eme, using Kaiser's new Loire Valley papers and a little Collage Press for good measure.

That little coat was a hand me down from my cousin and Eme loves that she gets to wear Georgia's clothes! We like to say they are from the "House of Georgia" like its some kind of exclusive boutique. lol.

Tonight I'm hosting the midnight crop at Scrapbooking Delights, and also playing in the shop tomorrow while Sandra is off skiing (its a hard life...lol). If you're free, come and join me!

There's 25% off storewide!!

btw - Scrapbooking Delights is undergoing a transformation and it looks fantastic.

The look of the blog has changed, and the shop has new furniture, fridge, and is undergoing a paint job - changing the colours from lime/pink to pale blue/chocolate. Pop in and check it out!

Have a great weekend everyone! TGIF

Pebbles Inc - Chalks

This week, Liz Qualman is hosting the Pebbles Inc blog and her challenge to the DT was to create a layout using Pebbles chalks! They come in a variety of colour palettes from basic colours, pastels, earth or jewel tones, as well as metallics and shimmer pearlescents. Each palette also includes an applicator! Make sure you pop over to the Pebbles blog to see how the rest of the DT used chalk on their scrapbooking projects. I haven't used a lot of chalk in the past, so this was a fantastic challenge for me. I found them really easy to use, and if you moisten the applicator first, you get a richer depth of colour. Here's my layout. I have used a mask to create chocolate coloured spots down the left hand side of my layout. Adding chalk to patterned papers really adds depth...love it!

I have also used my new Martha Stewart loopy punch! Love the effect of it going right around the page. My mum took this photo recently when she took the kids on a day trip to the Little Blowhole at Kiama. The title reads "Love the quiet moments"...so true...I love that the kids are sitting there patiently waiting for the blowhole to go off and watching the ocean. They had a fantastic time together.
The paper and stickers are from the So Tweet collection. Thanks for looking. Lis.

Today...

Outside my window...the sun is shining. Its a beautiful winter's day

I am thinking...about meeting with Sandra tonight to finalise the details for the Scrapbooking Delights retreat

I am thankful for...the love and support of mine and Andrew's families

From the kitchen...toast with the new Vegemite hybrid, spread nice and thick

I am wearing...a black top and cardigan, pink and burgandy scarf, burgandy skirt and black flats...with matching earrings of course

I am creating...a mess! Typical me...whenever I get creative, I always end up with stuff everywhere

I am reading...an online issue of Scrapbook Trends. I haven't read an actual novel in the longest time!

I am hoping...that my flu with disappear soon...3 weeks and counting

Around the house...there are four opened tissue boxes at the ready

One of my favorite things...is hearing my children yell "Mummy!" when they see me in the afternoon

A few plans for the rest of the week...clean up a little, fold some washing, pull out those clothes for baby Keira, scrapbook, get back on the plan in some way

A picture to share...of Andrew and I. I always seem to post photos of the kids on my blog, so its time to show us.

Wishing you all a fabulous week!

Cheers, Lis.

Pebbles rocks!

This northern Summer, Pebbles Inc have released two new ranges...lil' Miss and lil' Buddy. Both are equally gorgeous and the DT have been creating up a storm! Check out the Pebbles Inc blog to see what the DT have been doing...totally inspiring!! Each range comprises of six double sided patterned papers and three coordinating sticker sheets.

I love the colours and patterns in this range...pretty florals and stripes; and the stickers are just adorable. I may have to go back and do a few of Eme's photos from when she was a baby. Here's my first layout using the lil' miss range. I have used Pebbles papers, stickers, chips and ribbon. This pic was taken back in 2006 and its taken until now for me to scrap it (lol). The journaling reads "We are so lucky to be blessed with a son and a daughter! Seth and Emeline; you bring us so much joy and show us what unconditional love truely is."

How adorable is that robot?!! I love the little animals too. Totally cute. The patterned papers though are versatile enough that they don't have to be used just for baby boys or toddlers. Here I've used the papers and cute stickers to document Seth's current phase of joke telling. Every time he pulls out that book, I know I'm in for at least 1/2 hour of jokes that he thinks are hillarious! This is one of his favourites. My favourite though is "What did the sharpener say to the pencil?"...what for it..."Stop going around in circles and get to the point!" badaboom...tisch.
Thanks for looking! You'll be seeing lots more Pebbles projects in the coming weeks and months. Ask for Pebbles products at your lss now!

Today Eme and I are off to my friend Rachael's baby shower. I've made her a nappy cake, and I've been baking up a storm...yes, baking! That's how much I like her!! lol. I'll post some photos soon.

Cheers, Lis.
