Roll up, roll up, the circus is in town

Boy did we have fun on Good Friday - Stardust Circus has come to Wollongong, so Andrew and I decided to take the kids. We had been able to see them setting up camp every day driving home from work, and Seth was getting more and more excited. You can see the elephants from the roadside, but so much more impressive up close. We bought front row tickets thinking we'd get the best vantage point possible, but I quickly became nervous when I realised the lions would be about 1.5 metres from our faces! I had visions of "when good animals go bad", lions jumping over the fence etc. Scarier were the elephants - the cage was removed after the lions, so the elephants were incredibly close - Seth thought it was brilliant. Eme was more enthralled with the high flying trapeze and acrobatics, as well as the horses. We were lucky enough (more like I talked Andrew into) having our photo taken with a lion cub - he was only 3 weeks old, very fluffy and very very cute. You can see from the photo above that Eme was a bit wary and Seth was non-plussed. I think his problem was more to do with the fact that we were behind closed curtains with odd circus folk. Clowns still scare the hell out of me, and I didn't get peed on by a tiger (yes this is true, a circus tiger peed on me when I was a youngster and I'm scarred for life!), but the kids had a great time.
